Program Description

The Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program at IBA California is a professional doctoral program designed for experienced managers, executives, entrepreneurs, and business professionals seeking advanced knowledge in business leadership, applied research, and strategic decision-making. The program is intended to support the development of scholar-practitioners capable of addressing complex organizational and business challenges through research-informed practice.

The DBA curriculum integrates advanced business theory, leadership studies, organizational analysis, and applied research methodologies to prepare students for executive leadership, consulting, teaching, and professional practice in diverse business environments. Academic Qualifications

Applicants must have successfully completed a master’s degree or equivalent graduate qualification from an accredited, recognized, or appropriately authorized college or university.

The degree must be verified through official transcripts or equivalent academic documentation submitted directly from the awarding institution to IBA California. Documents may be submitted through mail or secure electronic delivery methods accepted by the institution.

Applicants who completed academic studies outside the United States may be required to obtain a credential evaluation from a member agency of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or another institutionally approved credential evaluation service to determine equivalency to U.S.

While there is no minimum grade point average (GPA) requirement for admission, strong academic performance in graduate-level coursework related to the intended field of study is preferred.

Professional Experience

Applicants are expected to currently hold, or have previously held, professional, managerial, executive, entrepreneurial, or leadership-related positions relevant to the field of business administration or organizational management.

Applicants are required to submit a personal statement of approximately 300–500 words addressing:

Description The Doctor of Business Administration Dissertation is the culminating academic and research requirement of the DBA program at IBA California. The dissertation requires students to conduct independent doctoral-level applied research addressing a significant issue related to business administration, organizational leadership, strategy, innovation, or management practice.

Students are expected to identify a research problem, conduct a comprehensive review of relevant literature, apply appropriate research methodologies, analyze findings, and develop evidence-based conclusions and professional recommendations. The dissertation process is designed to demonstrate advanced analytical, research, and critical thinking competencies applicable to professional business environments.

The dissertation emphasizes the integration of academic theory with practical organizational application and seeks to contribute meaningful insights to professional practice, leadership, or business management. Students complete the dissertation under faculty supervision in accordance with institutional doctoral research and academic integrity requirements.

Admissions Process

1 Step 1: Submit Application Applicants must complete and submit the official online Application for Admission along with all required supporting documents that are mentioned in the IBA California catalog, which may include:
  • Completed Application Form
  • Official Academic Transcripts from a recognized institution
  • Copy of Government-Issued Identification
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) / Professional Resume, mandatory for DBA applicants and recommended for MBA applicants
  • Statement of Purpose for DBA applicants
An application will not be reviewed until all required documents and the applicable application fee, if any, have been submitted.

All Academic Certificate degrees presented by the students must be recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or an equivalent international authority.

Applicants with non-U.S. academic qualifications must provide a course-by-course evaluation from a recognized credential evaluation service.

National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) member agencies are recommended.
2 Step 2: Admissions Evaluation The Admissions Committee reviews the applicant’s academic qualifications, professional background, and supporting documentation to determine eligibility for admission into the selected program.

International academic credentials may require evaluation by an approved foreign credential evaluation agency.
3 Step 3: Admission Decision Applicants are notified of the admission decision through official email communication. Accepted applicants may receive either:
  • Full Admission
  • Conditional Admission
  • Admission with Foundation or Qualifying Course Requirements, if applicable
4 Step 4: Enrollment Agreement Accepted applicants receive an Enrollment Agreement and program information for review. Students must carefully review, sign, and submit the Enrollment Agreement prior to official enrollment in the program.
5 Step 5: Tuition and Registration Students complete the required tuition payment arrangements and registration procedures through the Admissions or Student Services Department.
6 Step 6: Student Orientation and Portal Access Upon successful enrollment, students receive access to the online student portal, orientation resources, academic policies, and learning management systems used throughout the program.
7 Step 7: Begin Coursework Students may begin their online coursework according to the academic schedule and course availability established by IBA California.

IBA California follows a structured admissions process designed to ensure that applicants are academically prepared for success in a fully online graduate learning environment. The admissions process is conducted in accordance with institutional academic policies and applicable California regulatory standards.

Transfer Credits

IBA California may accept transfer credit for coursework completed at other institutions, subject to evaluation and approval. Transfer of credit is not automatic and must be consistent with the institution’s academic standards and program requirements.

Students are encouraged to submit transfer credit documentation at the time of enrollment or within the initial enrollment period.

Transfer credit submitted after the initial evaluation period may still be considered; however, administrative processing fees may apply in accordance with institutional policy.

Payment Policies

Tuition and fees are payable at the time of registration for each course. Students will not receive official grade reports, transcripts, or be awarded a degree until all financial obligations have been met. Students who have outstanding financial obligations to Acacia University will not be permitted to register for future courses unless special arrangements have been approved through the Finance Office.

Students may pay by check, money order, wire transfer, or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover). International students must pay with U.S. currency. Students whose employers will be invoiced for tuition shall submit a billing authorization form prior to the second week of class in lieu of course payment.
